Batiste Dry Shampoo

June 13, 2016 by Meagan Jeane Lancaster

Ladies, I get it. I've been there. You've been up all night with your little baby. Or you've been out all night with your girlfriends. Or you went out with your girlfriends, only to get home and be up all night with your baby. Man, these different seasons of life we find ourselves in, they're the real deal.

The alarm rings. Your arm reaches for the snooze.

Again.

Before the third reach over, you do the math. If you forego washing your hair today, you can stay in bed seven more minutes. SEVEN MINUTES. Again, the snooze bar wins. At the next ring of your alarm, you throw your tired legs over the side of the bed, and crawl out from underneath your duvet. You make your way past the mirror in the bathroom, where you catch a glimpse of your early-morning self.

That hair. It could have used a wash. You then tick through all of the things on your to-do list. Meetings, appointments, errands. It's not a day that you can live in your ratted old, but favorite yoga pants and a messy ponytail. You've got to do something.

My saving grace is dry shampoo.

Batiste makes the best, if you ask me. It smells delightful. It's not terribly expensive, and it really takes that "I woke up like this" nightmare into something you want to rock all day.

That's use one. I asked my fashionista sister, who also has a knack for blogging, about her favorite too...and the ballots are counted and we agree. Only she uses it on just washed hair, to give some texture to her locks before she combs and curls. Between this stuff and the first cup of coffee, I can actually feel a little more put together.

So there you have it and since we're sharing, I'd love to know your go-to in the morning, after a sleepless night (aside from the coffee, which I'm currently drinking cup #3).

I look forward to sharing with you my "Lancaster Land Loves" with you on Fridays.

XO

Portland Roasting Co.

June 10, 2016 by Meagan Lancaster in Friday Finds, Lancaster Land Loves

Some days, I wake before my alarm (which is no longer a cheery beep from my nightstand, but a toddler calling mamamamama from her crib). It's those days where I wake to my still sleeping house, the world around me quiet and still. I stare out the kitchen window, watch the sun rise and feel centered and ready for the day.

Those days aren't the usual. That's probably why they feel like unicorn magic to me. They're the end of the rainbow and feel a little sacred.

Normal mornings are followed by a night of broken sleep. Normal mornings are greeted by coffee.

Sweet. Dear. Coffee. I love you. I need you. Thanks for always being there.

In the mornings of ease or the mornings of chaos, it's important to find something that we can sink into. Something that, even if just for a second, gives us the power to look ahead, face the day and appreciate everything we've been doing. It's silly, but a really good steaming hot cup of joe can do that for a person. Portland Roasting Co. offers all of that, plus is organic and produced in a carbon-neutral facility. So, you're drinking coffee that is doing both you and the environment a favor. Waking up to a big win, right?

So, two things. This coffee. And this cup. Because we don't judge books by their covers, of course, but sometimes the vessel tells an important story too.

If you're ever in Portland, you have got to check out See See Motor Coffee Co. At Lancaster Land, we love their cups (perfect to wrap your hands around) but we also love visiting the shop. Motorcycles, coffee and a little of that Portland hipster sub-culture? I'll take it.

Cheers, friends!
